Questions and answers

How is my price calculated?

Nyfortuna uses current rates, which change from day to day, to calculate prices. You’ll receive the exact price per gram listed on our website. We have no hidden fees or charges.

What do I do with stones and pearls?

Nyfortuna does not buy stones and pearls. If you wish to retain these, you can remove them before selling your jewellery. If you visit our office, we can remove stones and pearls for you. The same applies to watch movements.

Can I have my gold appraised?

Nyfortuna would be more than happy to appraise your gold. You can use one of our 3 drop-off locations, request a personal appraisal at our office in Copenhagen, or send your gold in for appraisal by post.

How do I get my money?

We’ll transfer the money to your bank account, or pay you in cash, if you request it. Amounts over 50,000 DKK will always be paid by bank transfer.

When will I get my money?

We’ll transfer your money as soon as your sale is concluded. The transfer normally takes 2 banking days. That is, if you visit us on Monday, you’ll receive your money on Wednesday. If you visit us on Friday, you’ll receive your money on Tuesday.

Why do I need to bring photo ID?

In accordance with police regulations, we maintain a record of purchases and sales. For this reason, you must bring photo ID, such as a passport or driver’s licence. All information is treated as confidential and will not be forwarded.

How old do I need to be?

By law, you must be 18 years or older to buy or sell at Nyfortuna.

What can be tested?

We can test all kinds of gold — even if it isn’t stamped.

What happens to the gold after I hand it over?

The gold will be melted down and sent to a laboratory. There, it will be refined, a process in which the fine gold is extracted. After, we resell it to the jewellery and dental industries, where it can be reused. We are proud to report that the proportion of waste in our process is just 5% — i.e., we can reuse up to 95% of these old metals. It’s recycling for gold, plain and simple!

Do you charge a fee to appraise my jewellery?

We charge 200 DKK for appraisals without intent to sell, since we need to set aside half an hour for testing, and this time could be spent with other customers. If you later decide to sell the gold to us, we will be happy to refund the 200 DKK fee.
